I am TheCookingYam, aka Tiffany Afflick, and I’m a qualified Nutrition Advisor, with a 1st Class BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Loughborough University. During my degree I completed a placement year with British Swimming, and have been lucky enough to work with them ever since here in Loughborough.
I’ve had a passion for cooking from a very young age, but developed a love for nutrition when becoming more exposed to this field through university studies. As part of my placement undertook an Advanced Diploma in Sports Nutrition, and have been practising as a Sport Nutrition Advisor for almost a year, offering consultancy services, nutrition workshops and recipe development services to elite athletes and the general public.
From working mother to athlete, everybody needs good nutrition to live well, and it can be hard to find trustworthy sources of information. So what I really want to do with TheCookingYam blog and social media is to share healthy meals and tips in the simplest form, for everyone. I want to show the public that it’s not necessary to buy the most expensive exotic ingredients, or spend hours in the kitchen if you don’t have that sort of time. But just by putting a little more thought into what you eat and why, it’s possible to get into good nutritional habits and love healthy food!
